U.S. stock futures lower after G7 meeting

USA TODAY – May 23, 2016 – U.S. stock futures were lower Monday, while Asian stocks were mixed after a global finance meeting failed to result in ideas for spurring global growth.

Here’s where stock futures stood ahead of the opening bell:

Dow Jones: -0.3%

S&P 500: -0.3%

Nasdaq:  -0.3%

Japan’s Nikkei 225 index fell 0.5% to 16,654.60 as Tokyo reported weaker exports, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index dropped 0.4% to 19,775.82. The Shanghai composite index rose 0.6% to 2,843.65.

Finance ministers of the Group of Seven major economies ended a meeting over the weekend without agreement on a plan to revive global growth.

The Dow Jones industrial average rallied Friday but couldn’t avoid its fourth straight week of losses as investors continued to adjust to the prospect of higher interest rates.
